Raised by a single mother, Wendy began working after school at age 14 to help support her mom and three siblings. By 19, she was on her way to becoming a single mother, working two jobs just to make ends meet. Wendy’s story shows girls in Texas and across the country that they can grow up to be a leader in their community and state to be a fierce voice for women and their families.

Texas has some of the most radical anti-choice laws and legislators in the country. With Governor Rick Perry stepping down and Davis’ proven leadership on women's issues, Wendy has the opportunity to win the governor’s mansion and stop the attack on reproductive services and women’s health that has been going on in Texas for years.

Governor – Texas – Open Seat. This is the first open seat gubernatorial race in Texas since 1990.

In June 2013, Wendy waged an 11-hour filibuster in order to stop SB 5, an egregious anti-choice bill being considered by the Texas Senate. The bill eventually passed in special session, but her actions brought attention to the drastic measures Texas legislators are taking to restrict choice.

As a young woman, she put herself through college and law school and entered politics when she was 36.

She was first elected to the Fort Worth City Council in 1999 and served until 2007.

In 2008, she ran for state senate, won, and was reelected in 2012. WCF previously endorsed Wendy in her 2012 race and has repeatedly stood up for her in the face of relentless sexist attacks she still faces to this day.
