Sandra is a first time candidate, but has already racked up an impressive record of advocacy for gender equality and reproductive justice. She came to national attention when she was prohibited from testifying before a House committee on women’s health and has since continued to speak out for social justice across political forums and news outlets. WCF was the first organization to call for Sandra to run for office back in 2012.

California State Senate – 26th State Senate District – Open Seat. This is a predominantly coastal district in Los Angeles. Sandra will face seven opponents in a June primary.

Sandra serves on the boards and is a member of many women’s organizations including Emerge California, iHollaback, National Women’s Political Caucus, Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, California Women Lawyers, National Council of Jewish Women, Reproductive Justice Coalition of Los Angeles, California List, California Women Lead, and California Women’s Foundation.

Sandra has devoted her professional legal career to public interest advocacy for numerous social justice concerns, including reproductive rights, gender equality, LGBTQ rights, workers rights, economic justice and immigrant rights.
