As a moderate, pro-choice, Republican woman, voices like Maureen Koetz’s have become all too rare in politics. WCF is incredibly proud to support this first-time candidate, Navy veteran, single mother, and Queens native. In addition to being a champion for all New York women, Maureen will restore the integrity of the office currently held by the New York Assembly Speaker.

New York State Assembly – New York’s 65th District – Challenger. Maureen is challenging Sheldon Silver, the sitting New York Assembly Speaker plagued by numerous scandals.

Maureen was the first in her family to attend college, earning her BA from American University and a law degree from the Washington College of Law at American University.

She then entered the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Navy.

After the Navy, Maureen served in a series of legal and management positions, and was eventually appointed acting Assistant Secretary for Installations, Environment and Logistics for the U.S. Air Force.

Additionally, she served with distinction as Counsel to the EPA and to U.S. Senator Peter Domenici, as Environmental Counsel to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and as Environmental Policy Director at the Nuclear Energy Institute.

Maureen has also taught graduate courses in Environmental Finance at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University.

She currently owns a small consulting firm that specializes in sustainability of both built and natural infrastructure assets.
