During running mate Wendy Davis’ epic filibuster in the Texas Senate, State Senator Van de Putte proudly stood with her and spoke out against the lawmakers who tried to silence the voices of Texas women. Her leadership has clearly not gone unnoticed as multiple civic organizations and community groups have recognized Van de Putte as one of the most effective and influential legislators in Texas.

Lieutenant Governor – Texas – Challenger. Leticia is the running mate of fellow Game Changer, Wendy Davis, who is running for Governor of Texas. Leticia’s opponent is known for his incredibly hostile positions on women’s health and immigration.

Leticia Van de Putte has represented the San Antonio area in the Texas Legislature since 1991. She currently represents the 26th District in the State Senate.

After the 2013 Legislative Session, she was named to Texas Monthly’s 10 Best Legislators List.

She played a key role in supporting Texas’ version of the Lilly Ledbetter Act, ensuring equal pay for equal work, and fought against staggering cuts to the Women’s Health Program, protecting women’s access to healthcare.

She has been actively involved in the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), serving as President 2006-07.

She is an active member of the National Assessment Governing Board, the American Legacy Foundation Board, and the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators where she served as President 2003-05.

Prior to serving in the Texas Legislature, Leticia Van de Putte worked as a pharmacist in mental health clinics, a hospital, and her grandfather’s pharmacy, The Botica Guadalupana, before purchasing her own business, the Loma Park Pharmacy and Medical Clinic.
