From the California State Assembly and State Senate to Congress and Secretary of Labor, where she was the first Latina to serve in a presidential cabinet, Hilda Solis is a testament to the incredible impact that WCF women-in-office can have at all levels of office.

Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors – District 1 – Open Seat.

As Secretary of Labor, Hilda focused on workplace safety and compliance with wage laws.

While in Congress, Hilda was a staunch defender of reproductive rights. She was a member of the bipartisan Pro-Choice Caucus and served as Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus for women’s Issues, which was dedicated to increasing women’s rights and improving the health and wellbeing of women both in the U.S. and around the world.

Before being elected to Congress in 2000, Hilda served 2 years in the California Assembly and 7 years in the California Senate.

Hilda was the first woman to win the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation Profile in Courage Award for your commitment to environmental justice.
