Heather’s campaign is history in the making. If elected, she would be Maryland’s first woman governor as well as the first openly LGBT person to be elected governor in the country. Heather’s 15 years of experience in policy has made her a progressive powerhouse in Annapolis, where she expanded health care to children, protected reproductive rights for women, safeguarded the environment, and brought new technology jobs to Maryland.

Governor – Maryland – Open Seat. Heather faces two male opponents in the upcoming primary, Governor Anthony Brown and Attorney General Doug Gansler.

Heather has served in the Maryland House of Delegates for 4 years, where she serves the Silver Spring and Takoma Park areas outside of Washington, DC.

As a delegate, she has focused on improving family planning services in Maryland. The Daily Record has named her a Maryland Healthcare Hero and twice named her one of the State’s Top 100 Women.

Prior to being elected to the House of Delegates, Heather served on the Takoma Park City Council and previously as then-Senator John Kerry’s Domestic Policy Director.
