WCF President/CEO Sam Bennett Announces Endorsed Candidates in Virginia and Pennsylvania
(WASHINGTON, DC) – Referencing the need for pro-choice women in public office at the local levels of government, WCF President/CEO Siobhan “Sam” Bennett today announced the endorsement of four candidates running for local office in 2011.
“The attacks on women’s health sweeping through State Houses underscore the need for strong women leaders who support reproductive choices and options at every level of government – especially at the local level. I’m honored to announce WCF’s early endorsement of candidates in Virginia, which currently has the second most hostile laws on the books restricting women’s reproductive rights in the country, and Pennsylvania, which ranks 42nd in United States for women’s representation in local government and has only one women in its Congressional delegation. These endorsed candidates are on-the-ground champions for women’s rights, and are our first line of defense against the war on women. WCF is proud to endorse these local women leaders early in their races – when that support matters most.”
The following 2011 local candidates have earned WCF’s endorsement:
Stephanie Clifford: candidate for Virginia House of Delegates Seat (VA-49)
Pamela Danner: candidate for Virginia House of Delegates (VA-34)
Barbara Favola: candidate for Virginia State Senate (VA-31)
Leslie Richards: candidate for Montgomery County Commissioner (PA)
The Women’s Campaign Forum is a national, non-partisan organization dedicated to advancing the political participation of talented women leaders who support reproductive health choices and options at all levels of office, throughout the country, and regardless of political party.
